The main difference between hemp and marijuana is the chemical composition of the two plants. Marijuana contains higher amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which provides the psychoactive effect. Most marijuana plants contain between 5-20% THC and hemp plants contain less than 0.3% THC, essentially making it impossible to feel the psychoactive effects or get “high”. Hemp contains higher amounts of cannabidiol (CBD) which counteract the minimal amounts of THC present, deeming those minimal amounts useless.
Hemp has several uses. Varying from edible items to fabric to insulation material. The fabric made from the hemp stalk happens to be one of the strongest natural fibres to exist on the planet. It is also naturally bacteria resistant as well as UV resistant. Hemp also doesn’t require any pesticides in the growing process, which makes the fabric organic.
